Update about BBTUD Accounts

Hey y'all, it's been a while since I made a post, but I feel this is important. As y'all know, this website is powered by Wix. For a while now, Wix has been a very generous hosting provider for me. I have not paid a single dime for this service, yet I was able to host what I wanted to do on this single website. One of the things Wix provided was databases. Databases are my way of organizing every item in one place, including BBTUD Accounts. It had no item limit, and it was an effective way to build upon my website.

Over the last 5 years, 25K of you registered a BBTUD Account. That's something I am impressed by, because it was never necessary to have one for my game.
I guess y'all liked having the GameJolt trophies, because I'm pretty sure most of you used your GameJolt to sign up.
When I started using Wix and the database functionality, there was no limit on the number of items you could have in a database. This kind of stuff was never behind a paywall and was provided for free. The connections with the databases used to be fast and easy, even with these kinds of amounts. I am forever grateful that this was the case.
However, starting around 2024, it all started to change. Many of you who were playing before V3 came out may have started to realize that logging in, changing stuff about your account, or anything server-related was slowing down and failing. Around this time, I saw this in my dashboard.
This was the first sign that Wix decided to paywall their database services. I was 21 times over the item limit. It was something that I could never get below. However, Wix never enforced this limit. People were still able to create BBTUD Accounts, and everything seemed normal in the frontend. Nothing was really different. The only difference was that the database operations were slow and sometimes failed. Pretty much, this limit ended up being useless. I did not worry about it, and this kept going on for another 2 years.
On April 30th, 2026, I received an unexpected email.

After 2 years of the limit being added, Wix is finally enforcing it. The problem is... this was a big issue because I am definitely not able to go below the limit.

As well, I am still refusing to upgrade my site. Even so, I have to pay for the highest tier possible, as the lower tiers are still below the number of items I have in my databases.

Therefore, I will have to look for alternative services on the web. The good thing is that Wix provides me with a way to export the items from a database. However, this process will likely take a while, as I try to find a free database service that has a good API. At the moment, this is what's going to happen.
After June 30th, logging in to a BBTUD Account or registering will be temporarily unavailable until I get everything migrated to a new database service. If you have not registered a BBTUD Account already, please note that you will temporarily not be able to in the future. Make sure you are logged in to all your devices, because new logins will not be possible. Everything else will remain operational, and multiplayer is still open to non-logged-in users.
Because of this, I will be turning off a logout condition where connecting to a new internet would get you to log in again. This means that you should be okay if you log in to your account once. You will not be automatically logged out for this reason anymore.
Let's hope that whenever I migrate databases, everything will turn back to normal like nothing ever happened. This process should be seamless. If there are any future updates, I will let you guys know.
Until then, I hope you are all prepared.
