Baldi's Basics TUD - Multiplayer Manual

Updated: 4 days ago

Have you heard of Baldi's Basics Multiplayer before? I created a version in Unity that's way more efficient than the games you play. Don't believe me? Go ahead and try it with a friend!

How do I get access to it?

You can access it by scrolling through your modes and selecting Multiplayer. Baldi's Basics TUD Multiplayer is available in the latest version (V3.0.6) for EVERYONE! It's no longer necessary to create a BBTUD Community account.

How do I play Multiplayer?

There are two ways to play multiplayer.

Competitive Mode

If you want to play with one of you as Baldi, select Competitive. You'll be placed in a public room with one other player. If it says "Waiting for Players", wait for another player to join your room. If connected, you'll see their name on the left sidebar.

Once loaded, there's a 50/50 chance you're Baldi or a player. You can open the player list by holding Tab on your keyboard or holding the two-head Baldi button. This game also has a chat feature that can be toggled by pressing T or pressing the "CHAT" button. These keybinds can be changed in your settings.

Cooperative Mode

Do you want to work together instead? No worries, select Cooperative. You'll be placed in a public room with one other player. If it says "Waiting for Players", wait for another player to join your room. If connected, you'll see their name on the left sidebar.

Once loaded, you'll encounter the other player in the elevator. You can now work together to defeat Baldi. You can open the player list by holding Tab on your keyboard or holding the two-head Baldi button. This game also has a chat feature that can be toggled by pressing T or pressing the "CHAT" button. These keybinds can be changed in your settings.

NOTICE:

Public cooperative games have a join-in-progress functionality. If the player leaves, another one can join in.

If you're playing in cooperative mode, all characters will work fine if you're the first player who joined the room. If you're not the first person, some characters may not work as intended since I haven't given them proper multiplayer support.

Here is a list of characters that have multiplayer support and work fine:

  • Baldi

  • Playtime

  • Principal

  • It's a Bully

  • Arts & Crafters

  • Beans (some animations aren't synced though)

  • Dr. Reflex

  • Gotta Sweep (works, but movement isn't smooth)

Here is a list of characters that don't have multiplayer support but sometimes work fine:

  • Mrs. Pomp

Here is a list of characters that don't have multiplayer support and mostly don't work at all:

  • 1st Prize

  • Chalkles (only active/work fine in Competitive Games that have less than 3 players)

Here is a list of characters that are not active in multiplayer games:

  • Cloudy Copter

  • The Test

Private Play

Want to host a game yourself? No worries, check the instructions below if you're hosting or joining a game.

Hosting a Game:

To host a game, click/tap on the button "CREATE". It'll put you in a private room with a code that other players can connect to. Share the code with others so they can join the room.

Joining a Game:

To connect to a game, type the room code. Once finished, click or tap on "JOIN". It'll try to find the room with the code and connect you to it.

Once connected, the host has to start the game. You can face Baldi as an AI or a player, depending on the host settings. You can open the player list by holding Tab on your keyboard or holding the two-head Baldi button. This game also has a chat feature that can be toggled by pressing T or pressing the "CHAT" button. These keybinds can be changed in your settings.

Host Settings:

If you're hosting a game, you can customize the following settings:

  • Max Players: Choose the number of players that can join your game.

  • Random Events: Choose whether you want random events to happen in your game. The Real Lockdown event is excluded from multiplayer.

  • Second Floor: Choose whether you want the second floor to be available. NOTE: If you disable this option and Notebook Respawning is off, the maximum number of notebooks you can set is seven.

  • Notebooks: Choose the number of notebooks players will collect throughout the game. The maximum amount you can set is 9 (or 7 if you disable the second floor). However, if you enable Notebook Respawning, you can set any number up to 100 Notebooks (even if you lock the second floor). Automatic chooses the number of notebooks for you depending on the number of players in the lobby (1-3 Players = 7 notebooks, 4-6 Players = 8 Notebooks, 7-16 Players = 9 Notebooks).

  • Baldi: Choose who can be Baldi in this game. If you select Random, it'll randomly choose who will be Baldi. If you select AI, everyone will spawn as a player just like in Cooperative Mode.

  • Join In-Progress: Choose whether you want to enable Join In-Progress for this game. Please make sure to write the code somewhere, as it can't be accessed throughout the game. Due to technical limitations, Join In-Progress cannot work with 2 players if you're playing competitively. If you have collected all the notebooks and begin to start collecting exits, future players will be spectating, even if you set it to Enabled.

  • You Can Think Pad: Choose whether You Can Think Pad will always be used when collecting notebooks. The default is "Player Decides", where the You Can Think Pad will show based on the player's settings. You can also choose whether the You Can Think Pad shows only math problems instead of other subjects.

  • Notebook Respawning: NEW! If set, all notebooks will spawn around the school and will respawn when picked up. You can set the timer to 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 2 minutes. If you enable this option, you can set the maximum number of notebooks to 100 instead of 9.

  • BSODA Collision: NEW! Allows BSODA to push players instead of just NPCs. The default is Not Allowed, but you may enable this to troll your friends.

  • Pickups Per Player: NEW! If enabled, items around the school can be claimed by any player without any interference. Keep in mind that dropping items to other players will be disabled. This is recommended for big lobbies to give all players a chance to obtain items.

  • Slap Speed (* Multiplier): NEW! The multiplier of how often Baldi will slap when a notebook is collected, or a player fails a problem. If left blank (recommended), it will automatically adjust depending on the number of notebooks for a fair balance. You can set this from 0.06 to 50.

  • Item Usage: NEW! Allows how many times an item can be used. Keep in mind that if a player decides to be Baldi, apples will not be infinite to make the game fairer. This does not apply if Baldi is AI.

  • Item Cooldown (in seconds): If infinite items are enabled, set a cooldown between uses of an item. There is no cooldown by default, and the maximum you can set is 30 seconds.

  • Player Speed: NEW! Allows for how fast the player can go in the game. The default and minimum is 10, but you can set it to the maximum of 100. Keep in mind that if you decide to set a speed over 10, FOV will be automatically adjusted when sprinting (but the same when you are walking).

Wow! That's all!

Congrats, you finished reading the manual! Go start playing multiplayer. If you have any feedback, please share in the comments.

Hello, author. I would like to talk about some suggestions for online mode. Firstly, there is an issue with the apples. On the first floor, you can only get up to two apples, but on the second floor, you can still buy apples with coins. However, there are many coins on the first floor, which leads to some players stuffing their backpacks with apples, making it difficult for teachers to attack them. In the two person mode, the teacher cannot win at all.The second issue is that when players battle AI, the speed of the teacher after making mistakes is different from that in normal mode. In online mode, the teacher's speed is faster than in normal mode, but time…
